Please be courteous of other visitors when using cell phones in the Museum building. Silent use, such as text messaging, is permitted throughout the building. If you have to make or take a call, please do so in the Museum lobby or our central courtyard.
Cell use is not permitted at the Museum's historic houses. Please turn off or place cell phones on silent while enjoying guided tours.
Coat check is available at the Charleston Museum to store personal items during your visit. Suitcases, backpacks, shopping or oversized bags, umbrellas, and other large items should be checked to ensure the safety of the collections. Valuables, such as computers, cameras, credit cards, cash, phones, purses, etc., should remain with visitors at all times.

Food or drink is not permitted in the Museum exhibit galleries or historic houses.
Photography for personal use is permitted in the Museum and its historic houses, but, please, no flash photography. Due to safety concerns, tripods are not allowed. Photographs cannot be published, sold, reproduced or distributed commercially. Compact strollers are permitted in the Museum. Over-sized strollers, such as jogging strollers can be checked at the gift shop for your convenience. Strollers are permitted on the first floors of the Museum's historic houses. They may be left on the first floors while visitors tour the second floors of the houses.
