Description:
Photograph of various people walking by a cannon on the Battery. It is believed the hurricane that occured in 1911 dislodged the 11-inch gun from the iron mount. Handwritten notation on bottom, "What happened to the Keokuk's gun, mounted on the Battery?"
The gun was orginally on the ironclad U.S.S. Keokuk, before sinking in April of 1863 and salvaged by the Confederate forces. It was placed at White Point Garden in 1899.
