Uria aalge, Auk egg


A California murre (Uria aalge californica) egg collected from the Farallon Islands off the coast of San Francisco in June 1897. The egg had been freshly laid at the time of collection. The original collector is unknown, however they were collected on behalf of H.R. Taylor. Taylor notes the birds were nesting in "bare rock in colonies."
