Description:
Watercolor on newsprint of a study for an artwork in the collection (see 1975.32.156). An unidentified woman is seated on a wooden bench as she smokes her pipe. She wears a white head wrap and holds a bouquet of flowers in her left hand. She is conveyed using thick outlines in shades of blue and red. The color blocking and outlines make the painting print-like. Three smaller sketches of the woman's pose exist in the lower right hand corner in red.
