Description:

Watercolor on paper of an art show displayed on a sidewalk as people pass by - probably Meeting Street in Charleston. The artist sits on a collapsible stool in the street and watches as various people walk by and view the artwork hanging from a wrought iron fence. All of the figures wear bright, solid colored garments and the figure standing closest to the artist wears a Japanese straw hat. The image is given texture by the paper, which is cold pressed watercolor paper. The pigments are applied using wet-in-wet techniques and the subjects are outlined in black, making the image resemble an illustration.
