Description:

Watercolor on paper of a waterscape featuring two shrimp boats docked at two separate piers. The nearer boat has red poles from which the nets are rigged and can be seen reflected in the water. Great attention was paid to the reflections of the ships and piers as well, making this painting one of Ball's more realistic works. Ball utilizes the wet-in-wet technique to evoke the sense of water in the bottom left. Though the boat on the right is complete, pencil lines around the nearer ship suggest that the work is incomplete.
