Description:

Watercolor on ivory of an unfinished portrait rendered in miniature. The sitter is wearing a coat, royal blue in color and the artist has placed him in front of a brown background. The ivory oval is glued to a rectangular piece of backing paper and shows the artist's brush strokes used to remove excess paint.
Although research is ongoing, Louisa C. Strobel, is thought to be the artist of this almost completed portrait.
