Description:
Watercolor on newsprint of a study for an artwork in the collection (see 1975.32.163). An African American woman balances a basket of flowers on her head and a boy carries tree branches. The skin tone of the figures is colored in a solid, dark blue, but there are no strong, black outlines in this artwork. The garments are solid colors and they are given depth with darker shades of the same color. The figures walk in front of a pink house with green shutters. A white door and window with green shutters are visible. The child wears a hat but no shoes.
