Description:

Watercolor on paper of a produce market in a covered area attended and operated by both men and women (probably the market located in downtown Charleston on Market Street). The subjects are outlined in black and have no faces, causing the image to resemble an illustration. The women are conveyed wearing blouses tucked into full length skirts and most of the garments are solid in color with darker shades of the same color. Ball has used the wet-in-wet technique.
