Description:

Watercolor on paper of an unidentified woman hanging laundry on a clothesline. The image is dominated by shades of brown with the two central pieces of fabric in complimentary colors of dulled reds and greens. The pigment is applied using a mix of dry brush and wet-in-wet techniques and Ball used the strong black outlines influenced by Japanese prints which inspired the Charleston Renaissance Movement.
