untitled (Boy Leaning on a Rail)
Contact The Charleston Museum for image use and credit instructions.
Description:
Watercolor on paper of a figure drawing illustrating a boy or young man as he leans with his right arm against a mantle piece or railing. He wears a button-down shirt that is tucked into trousers and turns to face the viewer. The shading is achieved through skillful use of the brush to create a shadow with a single stroke, rather than outlining an area and filling it in. The entire artwork is completed in a single shade of blue.
