Black and white photograph of three Sabal palmetto trees on an unidentified beach, possibly Folly Island. A typed description is attached to the back, "Beach Sentinels The State Tree of South Carolina, the cabbage-palm (Sabel palmetto), universally called by its specific name. Famous in the annals of the state since the battle of Fort Moultrie in the Revolution, the fort being made of logs of this tree."
