Description:

Commemorative photograph card of St. Michael's Church. The view shows the earthquake damage to the police headquarters, now the post office. Printed on reverse, "Parish of St. Michael. Established June 14, A.D. 1751. This building begun in 1752. Opened for divine worship Feb. 1st. 1761. Exposed to the fire of British Artillery on James Island in 1780. Struck four times by the Federal Artillery on Morris Island, 1863 to 1865. Seriously injured by cyclone August 25, 1885. Almost destroyed by earthquake August 31st, 1886. Has been restored by the generosity of American churchman and friends, and re-opened June 19, 1887. For Sale by Chas. N. Beesley."
