Description:
Black and white photograph of a large crowd gathered on Meeting Street watching as fire fighters battle the blaze at the St. Charles Hotel. A stream of water aimed at the fire can just be seen in the far distance coming from the corner of Hasell and Meeting Street. It is thought Sams took the elevated image from the third or fourth floor of the Charleston Hotel. Caption with negative, "Fire at St. Charles Hotel". Printed from a glass plate negative held in the Museum's collection.
