Description:

Black and white photograph of the soldiers with rucksacks, bedrolls and rifles walking over the railroad trestle toward a railway car. The soldiers were possibly part of the 12th Regiment Infantry, New York Volunteers, mustered into service during the Spanish-American War. It appears they stopped in Charleston on the way to Camp George H. Thomas in Georgia before shipping out to Cuba.
Printed from a glass plate negative held in the Museum's collection.
