Description:

Sharps Carbine New Model 1863 with standard features that includ an iron buttplate, iron loading lever, one iron band, a percussion nipple designed to utilize a tape primer system, a hinged Sharps sight, saddle bar and riding ring and rifling with six lands and grooves. Issued in larger numbers than the full length rifle, the carbine version was very popular with the cavalry of both the Union and Confederate armies.
