Description:

Original etching in black ink on paper of a beach landscape with sloping dunes on either side. One palm tree sits just left of center, another fainter palm tree to its left. Weeds grow around their bases. The horizon and upper corners of the sky are defined by several hatched lines. Pleased with this print, Ball titled it "Sea Island Sentinels First Slate." The etchings in this series share the same subject and composition, but are made from two plates or slates. This is from the first slate.
