Description:
Watercolor on paper illustrating various stages of mushroom maturation. Jervey noted along the bottom, " Russula heterophilla [sic] Edible" and wrote on reverse, "Heterophilla [sic] means many colors. I found a half bushel under an old oak tree not two alive. They are considered the nicest of the Russulas. Dr. Memminger said they fooled him many times when he put one under the mycroscope."
