Description:
One of five pied-billed grebe (Podilymbus podiceps podiceps, Linnaeus 1758) eggs collected from Magnolia Gardens in Charleston County, South Carolina (see CBE1754-CBE1758). The original collector, Roy E. Baker, Jr. noted they had been freshly laid at time of collection and "the nest was in a small man-made duck pond surrounded by salt water marshes. It was composed of reed stems and decaying vegetation. Floating nest." Later acquired by Ernest Cutts.
