Podiceps grisegena, Grebe egg
Description:
One of four red-necked grebe (Podiceps grisegena holboelii) eggs collected from Wellington Co., Ontario, Canada (CBE1734-CBE1737). Collector, Robert Pickering noted they were freshly laid and the nest was "a floating mass of dead rushes and roots. Well hollowed to hold eggs. Water was four feet deep at nesting site, nest was anchored to living rushes." Later acquired by Ernest Cutts.
