Photograph of (from left) the shipbuilding president, Lennis "Bud" Campbell Ackerman shaking hands with Congressman Felix Edward Hebert at the keel laying ceremony for the USS L. Mendel Rivers. Hebert served as the chairman of the Committee on Armed Services from 1971 to 1975. The ship was built and launched at Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company. The image was removed from an old photograph album.
