Description:

Black and white photograph of the 12th Regiment Infantry, New York Volunteers on and standing by railway cars that have been graffitied with the words "12 N.Y.V. Off to Cuba". Caption with glass plate negative, "New York Volunteers on R.R. Cars." The soldiers were the 12th Regiment Infantry, New York Volunteers, mustered into service during the Spanish-American War. It appears they stopped in Charleston on the way to Camp George H. Thomas in Georgia before shipping out to Cuba.
