Description:
Photograph of the front gate at the Nathaniel Russell House. Paine set his camera up in the front yard to capture a portion of the landscaped yard and pathway with the Timothy Ford House visible behind the gate. He noted on reverse, "Premo 6. Collinear III 3. Par Speed. A20 2E. Pyro. 4/3/33. B.S. 2:30PM 1/25th F11. No filter. O.K. Only Copy Hold."
Completed in 1808 for merchant Nathaniel Russell, it was designed by an unknown architect in the Federal-style. Constructed with delicate and elaborate details, this three-story town home features oval-shaped rooms, palladian windows, fanlights and a free-flying staircase.
