Black and white photograph of the doorway of the Nathaniel Russell House used in "Gateways & Doorways," p. 20. The balconies made of intricate iron work are visible above the door and a portion of the landscaped garden can be seen.
Completed in 1808 for merchant Nathaniel Russell, it was designed by an unknown architect in the Federal-style. Constructed with delicate and elaborate details, this three-story town home features oval-shaped rooms, palladian windows, fanlights and a free-flying staircase.
