Description:

Photograph of director, E. Milby Burton standing in front of an exhibit case. He is holding a "man catcher" from Papua New Guinea constructed with a central hardwood barbed spear. Donated by Alexander Hume Ford in 1940, it was displayed in the front half of the main exhibit hall dedicated to the culture history of man.

This piece was transferred to the Smithsonian as part of a repatriation effort in 1991.
