Mrs. Samuel Jones was formerly Mary Odingsell, daughter of Charles and Mary Odingsell, and granddaughter of Paul Grimball. The sitter was married two times, first to Samuel Jones and then again to Captain Ebenezer Simmons. Mary and her husband Samuel had three sons (Samuel, John, and Charles) and one daughter (Mary).
