The News and Courier reported "The line will be headed by a police escort, followed by the grand marshal in an automobile. The department commander with his offical party in two cars will follow. Next will come the United States marine band from Parris Island; the Eight Infantry from Fort Moultrie; the United States marines from the navy yard; the sailors from the navy yard; the sailors from the Concord; the 118th infantry, South Caorlina national guard; the 263rd coast artillery, South Carolina national guard, now training at Fort Moutrie; the Charleston police band, followed by the department colors and Miss South Carolina."
