The image is surrounded by gold metal in a full stamped leather case with red embossed velvet on the interior. The photographer's mark of "Cook Artist Charleston" is found on reverse and a separate card idenfying the young girls as "Margaret Buckingham Horlbeck 1847-1873 (left) Emma Julia Blum (1848-) (right)" was found inside the case.
