Description:

Photograph of the "Extinct Birds in South Carolina" exhibit at the old Charleston Museum. Displayed are the Carolina parakeet, the ivory-billed woodpecker and the passenger pigeon. Signage below the glass, "Formerly Common, Now Extinct in South Carolina: Ivory-Billed Woodpecker, Passenger Pigeon, Carolina Parakeet." The image was taken for "The Charleston Museum Houses and Exhibits" brochure printed by Bradham Advertising.

In 2021, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service proposed removing the ivory-billed woodpecker from the endangered species list and placing it on the extinct list. To date, the debate on whether or not these birds are extinct continues.
