Description:

One of two Franklin's gull eggs collected from the Lake of Narrows in the Northwest Territory (see CBE7082 - CBE7083). The eggs were about halfway through incubation and were identified by the birds present. The nest was found "in colony of thousands, in rushes 200 yds. from shore in 20 in. of water. Nest of rushes and decaying matter below and floating. Nicely hollowed and dry," (Day slip). The eggs were later acquired by Arthur T. Wayne.
