Larus marinus, Gull egg

Description:

One of two great black-backed gull (Larus marinus) eggs (CBE1455-CBE1456) collected from the coast of South Labrador. A fisherman collected them for F. B. Webster in June 1906. They had been freshly laid at time of collection. Later acquired by Alexander Sprunt, who notes the nest was made of "seaweed on rocky ground near the water."
