Description:

One of three ring-billed gull eggs collected from Crump Lake, 3 miles (4.83 km) south of Adel (CBE1917 - CBE1919). Batterson's slip noted the nest was "on a small island in Crump Lake, not far from the shore. A hollow in the ground, lined with dry grass and several gull feathers." The bird colony was described as "a fair-sized colony of ring-billed gulls on this island. Several young gulls hatched, some heavily incubated eggs and some fresh eggs." Identification of the eggs was confirmed by observing the parents on the nest and incubation was noted as having been slight. They were later acquired by Ernest Cutts.
