Larus argentatus, Gull egg

Description:

One of three (3) American herring gull (Larus argentatus smithsonianus) eggs (CBE1002-CBE1004) collected from approximately 2 miles outside Rocky Point, Minnesota in May 1924. The egg had been freshly laid at the time of collection. The original collector, P. Fryklund, noted the nest was, "built in small hollow of the rock and composed of a few weeds and some feathers." These eggs were eventually acquired by Alexander Sprunt Jr. for his oology collection.
