Description:

Sepia photograph of King Street looking north from the vicinity of Wentworth Street. Paine set his camera up on the sidewalk to capture the busy street scene of automobiles and pedestrians. The domed building of the old Hirsch-Israel Co. (left) housed the Peoples First National Bank (275-277 King) at the time this photograph was taken. Hunley's Pharmacy (272 King) can be seen across the street (to the right) along with a branch of the South Carolina Power Company (276 King). The Francis Marion Hotel (387 King) is visible in the distance. Notation on reverse reads, "King St. B.S. - 1PM. F8. 1/75th sec. A20 3."
