Description:
Watercolor on paper of the beach landscape of Kiawah Island as it recedes into the distance. The horizon line slopes slightly from the right to the left because of the height of the dunes and foliage. Compositionally, the tree line is balanced by the discolored water in the lower left. The accumulating debris and roots of the grasses are conveyed in a pink or red color giving the sand a warm hue, in contrast with the cool hued trees and ocean. Handwritten in the bottom right corner reads: "Kiawah - July 1958."
