Description:

Sepia photograph of the front and side views of the main house on Hopsewee Plantation located on the North Santee River. Built between 1733 and 1740, by Thomas Lynch, Sr., his son, Thomas Lynch, Jr. (signer of the Declaration of Independence), was born here. The windows have shutters and one chimney is visible. A crawl space under the house is evident. Handwritten on reverse reads, "[T.] Cordes Lucas, Georgetown, S.C."
