Description:

One of four Gull-billed tern (Gelochelidon nilotica aranea) eggs collected from Deveaux Bank near Rockville. Cutts' slip described the nest as "a few reed stems placed in slight indenture in sand on sand bar at mouth of Edisto River. Large colony of pelicans, terns, gulls and skimmers inhabit this bank. First laying was destroyed by high tides." Incubation of the eggs had just started at the time of their collection and identification was confirmed by observing the nearby birds (see CBE2003 - CBE2006).
