Gavia stellata, Loon egg
Description:
One of two red-throated loon (Gavia stellata) eggs collected from Laxardal in northern Iceland by W. Palsson (see CBE1813-CBE1814). Palsson noted the eggs had been freshly laid at the point of collection and they "were placed on the bare ground on the margin of a small mountain lake." Later acquired by Ernest Cutts.
