Gavia pacifica, Loon egg

Description:

One of two Pacific loon (Gavia pacifica) eggs collected from Hooper Bay in the northwestern district of Alaska (see CBE1811-CBE1812). Collector Fannie Rivers noted incubation had started and the nest was "on ground five feet from water on top of small hummock. Eggs on moss and lichens." Later acquired by Ernest Cutts.

Previously attributed to "Gavia arctiva pacifica."
