Gavia pacifica, Loon egg

Description:

One of two Pacific loon (Gavia pacifica) eggs collected from Hooper Bay in the northwestern district of Alaska (see CBE1809-CBE1810) Collector William Stribling noted incubation had started and the nest was "placed near a large lake about 3 mi - 4.83 km. back of village. Nest a heap of decayed wet vegetation." Later acquired by Ernest Cutts.

Previously attributed to "Gavia arctiva pacifica."
