Description:
Black and white photograph of a large crowd outside the tent surrounding the Forepaugh-Sells Brother's Circus. The sign over the tent entrance advertises for "Giant Egyptians," "The Great Adam Forepaugh and Sells Brother's Mastodonic Out-Side Exhibition," and the "P.G. Lowery's Georgia Minstrels." Perry G. Lowery was a cornet player that formed the P.G. Lowery's Famous Concert Band and Vaudeville Company and is credited with being the first African American musician to put his act in a circus. He performed and led this vaudeville group for the Forepaugh-Sells Brother's Circus from 1904 to 1905.
