Description:

Currently on exhibit in the Armory at the Museum, this .54 caliber smoothbore flintlock pistol was used by the local militia after the War of 1812. It is equipped with a hickory ramrod outfitted with a swelled brass tip at one end and a fitted iron ferule at the other (which can be threaded for cleaning or a ball remover can be attached). The barrel band is fluted while all other mountings are of plain iron. The stock extends past the band and stops 1/2 inch from the muzzle. The flat lock plate is casehardened and beveled at the front with a slightly rounded design at the rear and the muzzle end of the barrel is outfitted with a brass, bladed foresight.
