Description:

Pair of cased dueling pistols each with percussion cap conversions and .50 caliber octagonal iron barrels decorated with a gold inset fleur-de-lis. Engravings are also found on each hammer, lock plate, trigger guard, buttplate and forearm plate and a silver oval name plate adorns each pistol bearing an elk head. Equipped with adjustable hair triggers, carved crosshatched grips and brass tipped wooden ramrods the case is complete with an oil can, bullet mold, loading rod and key. Currently on exhibit in the Museum.

Duelling pistols were always manufactured in identical pairs to put both duellists on equal ground, but, not all pairs of pistols were made for duelling.
