Description:

Photograph of five women seated on the ground in a wooded area near Otranto Plantation. An automobile is parked directly behind them with another one just visible to the right. Paine captured the lunch break during the second outing of the Charleston Automobile Club. The women are wearing full-length skirts or dresses and large hats tied with scarves around their chins as they eat a picnic lunch. Photographer's notation on reverse, "Cars meant picnics in sunny wooded dells. This car rode Pres. Taft around Chas. for four of his visits in 1909, 10 and 11 - Photo by M.B. Paine, Jr. 1910, Chas S.C."
