Charleston Automobile Club Outing, 1910

Description:

Photograph of five women (only four are visible) seated in a White steamer touring car. Paine captured the image as the car is parked in the middle of a dirt road leading to a plantation. Photographer's notation on reverse, "Typical entrance to Historical Colonial Homes near Chas. S.C. Double avenues of live oaks shade the double roadway."

It is thought this photograph was taken during the second outing of the Charleston Automobile Club in 1910 rather than 1912 as Paine noted on MK 783. More research is needed.
