Cepphus grylle, Guillemot egg
Description:
One of two black guillemot (Cepphus grylle atlantis) eggs collected from Socality Black Ledge in Penobscot Bay Maine (see CBE7068-BE7069). Collector Ora W. Knight noted incubation had just begun at time of collection and the nest was located in "a slight cavity in gravel under a large flat rock, which formed part of the island's 'sea wall.' Outside diameter 3in." Later acquired by Arthur T. Wayne.
