Description:
Photograph of an engraving of the Cathedral of St. John and St. Finbar, the first Roman Catholic cathedral in Charleston. Consecrated in 1854 it was destroyed in the December fire of 1861. The present Cathedral of St. John the Baptist was built on the foundation of the old cathedral. The image was published on page 13 in the "Harper's New Monthly Magazine" No. LXXXV, June, 1857, Vol. XV.
