Description:

Watercolor on paper illustrating two stages of mushroom maturation. Jervey noted along the bottom "Cantharellis Cabarius [sic] Chantarelle [sic] Edible" and wrote on reverse, "See C.2 Some say Cantharellis Cabarius [sic] is poisinous others say put to the lips of a dying man will arrest the pangs of death. One is thinking of the C.C., the other the Jack O'Lantern one grows in clumps, the other singly one lemon See C.2."
