Brick House Plantation

Description:

Sepia photograph of the rear view of the main house on Brick House Plantation prior to the fire in 1929. Built by Paul Hamilton in 1725 it was sold to the Jenkins family in 1798 and has remained in the family. The windows are shuttered and just above the roof of the back entrance is an arched window. The house has two chimneys and a cistern is outside the back door entrance. Handwritten on reverse reads, "Brick House on Edisto Island // Rear View".
