Black and white photograph of the East Shore Railroad waterfront building and tracks as well as the Bartholomany Brewery Company covered in snow. Sams has positioned his camera on the side lawn of the United States Custom House (along Market Street) to capture the view. A lone man stands near the sign that notified East Shore passengers, "To Isle of Palms." Caption with negative reads, "East Shore R.R. Wharf." The "Great Blizzard of 1899" or the "Great Arctic Outbreak of 1899" brought a mixture of snow and sleet to Charleston on February 11 - 12, with reported temperatures of 7?F and four inches of snow.
